National Savings Institute in close coordination with the State Govt., Department of Posts
celebrated Women's Saving Day at the HQ's of the Regional Centres of NSI every year.
Why This Scheme ?
This year also the Women's Savings Day was celebrated throughout the country on 15th April 2009. The objective of celebration of Women's Savings Day is to motivate Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) agents to mobilize resources for economic development of the country as well as earn for their living since
the MPKBY agents get commission for mobilizing household saving from different segments i.e.
urban, semi-urban, rural and far flung areas.
Only women are eligible to become MPKBY agent. All Collectors, in respect of Districts and Dy. Director of Small Savings, Corporation of Chennai in respect of Chennai city are the appointing authority of MPKBY agents. At present there are 28535 numbers of MPKBY agents in Tamilnadu.These agents canvass deposits in Post Office Recurring Deposits Scheme (PORD).
